Sucessful Chartering & Push Week

Almost one month ago, March 23, 2013, the Iona College Associate Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi has successfully chartered as the Iota Omicron (IO) chapter. It was a long two year journey that started off with the vision of senior Jude Michael Murphy that wanted to change Greek Life at Iona College.

Two years ago, I sat in Rice Hall dreaming of bringing a Fraternity to our campus that would shake things up. A group of men that would challenge the status quo, raise the bar and show Iona???s community a true lifelong brotherhood of leaders…

It was a long and tedious journey to prepare, but it was worth it in the end. Each and ever brother have shown their efforts and dedication towards the fraternity. All that is left is to continue the legacy that was started and pass it on to future brother of the Iota Omicron Chapter.

Not too long after chartering, our week long charity event started to raise money and awareness for our philanthropy, Push America. From April 8th to the 12th the Pi Kapps hosted events for the Iona College community. This included interactive events such as “Pie a Pi Kapp,” where students donate for a chance to pie any of the Pi Kapps, and “Pedals for Push,” which involved Pi Kapps cycling for 30 hours non-stop.

To help spread awareness, an “Empathy Dinner” was provided to the students and challenged them to eat and interact with other students while having a physical or mental disability. This??involved??challenges from wearing a blindfold while eating to only being allowed to speak certain words when??talking??to other students.

In the end, the week turned out to be a great success and we managed to raise a total of $780 towards our philanthropy.
