Pi Kappa Phi Celebrates 108 Years of Brotherhood

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012 @ 11:42AM

Yesterday, on December 10, 2012, Pi Kappa Phi chapters throughout the country celebrate a day that three men, our founding fathers, decided to redefine the word “fraternity” as a lifelong brotherhood of leaders. Because of their action, we are here today to celebrate the one-hundred??and eight years of being a national fraternity that has??grown??to over 150 chapters and 100,000 brothers strong.

We celebrated this historical event by having a dinner at one of our brother’s apartment with trays full of??spaghetti and??lasagna??as our main course. This event was??particularly??important to us because it was our first time ever celebrating Founder’s Day as the newest fraternity in Iona College. Overall, all of the brothers enjoyed themselves. It is something that we can look back on and say that we??participated??in the first ever celebration for our chapter’s history.

Our??Chaplain, John Rocco, was the one who oversaw last night’s dinner and concluded the celebration with a ritual and prayer. When I asked him what was going through his mind at that time he said,

I thought our first celebration of Founder’s Day went very well. I was pleased with the turnout and was glad everyone enjoyed themselves.

As our Chaplain said, our first??Founder’s??Day was a success and we will continue the tradition each year in memory of those who came before us as leaders.
