JOH North Day 27 (Day 36) Grand Island, NE to Lincoln, NE

Wednesday, July 10th, 2013 @ 2:59PM

Total Time:
Miles: About 75/105
Avg Speed:
Max Speed:
2 days without a flat tire
15 flat tires in
Status: Racked? well everyone did
Rode with: Doug and Jeremy

*one more month until DC
*Really weird and frustrating ride
*Today was a century ride so the team woke up early
*The day was filled with activities so rack time was very strict and tight.
*the ride had a reputation of cyclists being unable to finish
*i was one of the last pace lines to start
*We passed many pace lines due to flat tires
*near the end of the first time crunch on mile 50 my back began to cause bigger problems
*the average time travelled was gradually getting worse on my line due to some head winds and the back problems only made them worse
*my pace line and others were at least 3 miles off from rack but we were still able to continue riding
*i tend to yoyo when I ride and that annoyed some people in my pace line and it began to irritate me
*when the team rode to mile 60 we had to be racked due to horrible road conditions and construction that made it nearly impossible to ride in. There was even traffic that lasted for a very long time.
*only one pace line was 5-10 miles ahead before getting racked.
*construction lasted 20 miles and the team was off the bikes for close to 90 minutes. At that time nobody wanted to ride anymore. I was personally upset with my performance and did not want to cycle.
*after being 4 miles away from the city the crew van realized they made a wrong turn and brought our van 10 miles back do we were cycling more miles. (That confused and really irritated people.)
*the last set of miles were rolling hills, and going through a city which always had its fair share of problems
*After the ride we went to Raising Canes. The chicken fingers were amazing
*Lodging was at a church and people explored Lincoln since it was basically a college area.
*Ate dinner at a park from a club and had another friendship visit/dance. The entire event was entertaining.
*the day ended with Nick telling everyone that wakeup was at 6:30. What a relaxing feeling.
