JOH Day 17 (Day 23) Dinosaur, CO to Craig, CO

Saturday, June 29th, 2013 @ 10:00AM

Total Time: 6:05.00(About 7 hours total)
Miles: 71.57/88
Avg Speed: 11.7 mph
Max Speed: 43.5 mph
4 days without a flat tire
11 flat tires in
Status: racked due to not making rack point at mile 80.

Today was a full ride. Went up a slight uphill and the ride was pretty uneventfully. One of the members of our pace line had a bad derailer so he could not shift properly. Because of that, the pace line was rising 11 mph and that pace was too slow to make rack point. I figured that that might happen a few hours before we racked so I did not really care too much. The weather was also really hot so going at a slow pace was not fun.

After the ride we had a friendship visit to a Boys and Girls Club at Craig. The kids were fun and energetic. Some acted like knuckleheads. What do you expect? They???re kids, I acted liked that too when I was their age. We also spent time and did a puppet show that had a great reception.

After meeting up within the kids we had another friendship visit/diner. The food was great as usual and they also had some water balloons and other things to entertain the team. One of the mothers wanted me to squirt some kid. That was a big mistake. I never seen so much vengeance from a kid. Every time he had water I got drenched with cold water. He had so much energy it was scary. I also learned never truce with a little kid. They have no honor.

The day ended with a team meeting and these next few days we will be interacting with sponsors. The man who started JOH will also ride with us for a few days. Can???t wait to see what happens.
