Planning Your Powers

What is the best power in HeroSmash? Which does the most damage? Which is the BFG of HS?

I'm not going to answer that question yet. You can certainly figure it out for yourself using the HeroSmash Complete Powers Spreadsheet. Before you dive in and stock up on those 100+ damaging powers I want to go over a few things.

First, you have to plan for the combination of powers you'll equip while grinding your way to super-fame and fortune. Plan for your levels and plan for specific combat conditions.

Plan for Your Levels

Radiating Hands
I don't recommend buying any power until level four! That's right, not a thing. You'll be wasting money. Most of the powers under level five are terrible. And you can get awesome powers for free.

When starting a character, log into a busy server. That way you'll find people who will help you. Go straight to the alley (/join alley) and hook up with a group grinding Chudlings. You should reach level five within an hour, more likely a half-hour, and you'll have most of the Radiating Hands powers. Equip them and use them as they drop.

The first power you might want to get at level four is Poison Blade. This power does an average of 32 damage plus 32 damage-over-time (DoT) for 64 total. You'll be able to use this power all the way up to level eight and beyond if you're a free player.

Focus
At level five you should get Focus (or Uncanny Focus if you can) and Molecular Reconstruction. These powers will carry you to level 10.

And so on... Plan carefully for levels and don't waste your hard-earned fame.

Plan for Specific Situations

Mama Chuds likes it when you use radiation powers on her. When fighting her you'll need to replace Maximum Blast and Radiating Hands with other types of powers. She also does a lot of damage! To survive her, you'll need Chucky's Saliva which will cut her damage by 2/3rds. You should also equip Focus and Molecular Reconstruction.

You'll find situations all over the place where you need to change your powers so plan accordingly. And don't sell powers just because a new one comes along. You might need an older one later.

Recommended Powers to Equip

To make this simple, you should equip the following powers and swap out when the situation changes:
Energy Regenation: You'll need an energy-regenerating power, like Focus or Uncanny Focus at level five.
Healing: You'll need a healing power, like Molecular Reconstruction or Purifying Flames at level five.
Damaging: Make at least one of your powers (I prefer two) damaging. These will be DoT powers.
Instant Damaging: Get at least one power for high, instant damage.

Have Fun, Be Creative

Some players are hard-core, power-leveling, farming machines. These players are interested in getting the best powers they can to do more damage and fight more fights.

Others on the other hand have another goal: to have fun, to be creative, and to role-play. These players want to have a theme, a back story, a creative origin for their Smasher. You might try it yourself if you haven't already.

Examples

A player who wants to create a fiery, heat-powered Smasher might choose:
    Purifying Flames
    Fiery Core
    Fire Blast
    Immolate
A player who wants to be like a ninja might pick:
    Crosscut
    Lacerate
    Poison Blade
    Precision
And a player who wants both... the Fire Ninja!
    Fiery Feet
    Fiery Fists
    Jump Attack
    Crosscut
So... what's your theme?

Summary

Planning will help players develop their Smasher without wasting a lot of time and effort. When players know what they want and need ahead of time they won't have to spend a lot of time farming for fame and actually have fun playing the game.

Best Powers (5.24.11)

Most Damage: Brain Freeze 15- 222 average total (99 plus 123 DoT).
Most Damage, Fame and Non-member: Immolate 15- 169 average total (21 plus 148 DoT).

Most Damage, Single Attack: Maximum Blast 15- 100 average
Most Damage, Single Attack, Fame and Non-Member: Crosscut 15- 84 average.

Most Efficient Attack: Brain Freeze 10- 5 points of damage per energy spent.
Most Efficient Attack, Fame and Non-member: Immolate 15- 4.6 points of damage per energy spent.

Fastest Attack: Radiation Beam and Radiating Hands 1 to 8- 2 second cool-down.

Best Healing Power: Molecular Reconstruction- Heals about 245.

Best de-buff: Chucky's Saliva- reduces radiation damage by 66%.

Best buff: Fiery Core 12 and 15- increases fire damage by 90%.
Best buff, Fame and Non-member: Fiery Core 3 and 6, Unstable 4 and 8- Increases fire/ radiation damage by 60%.

Soloing Momma Chuds

You have to have Chucky's Saliva to survive Mama Chuds. This reduces her damage by a large margin. Even when working with a party you need this.

Uncanny Focus and Purifying Flames are the next two powers I used. Although Molecular Reconstruction 10 is slightly better than Purifying Flames 10, I like the healing over time effect of Purifying Flames. Plus, Purifying flames has a quicker cool-down and 15 less energy cost than Molecular Reconstruction.

For damage, I picked Lightning Strike 10 and Venom 12. Lightning strike does decent damage (averaging 75) plus slows down an enemy's haste. Venom has a good balance of total damage (88 on average), cool-down (5 which is fast for a level 12 power), and energy cost (32).

DageDevil's Skill Spreadsheet

I've finished the spreadsheet with new skills added to it. The folder file contains images of the spreadsheet and has the complete powers as of today.

Umm is this a good build? Cause I read DageDevil's Guide, and he said to use 2 DoT powers and I only have 1 but each DoT is 64.
